Local acceptance of energy technologies is of high relevance for the transformation of the German energy system towards renewable energies. There are many possibilities to measure acceptance in empirical investigations. Often the measurement concepts are unidimensional or the results refer to small, non-represantative samples. The authors of this paper use a multidimensional typlogy to analyse protest and support in the German population on basis of a representative survey.
